Traffic Generators

Did you know:

For most web sites, search engines account for 95% of incoming
traffic.

If your web site does not show up at the top when a customer
searches for your product or service, your competitors' web sites
are!

To get to the top, your web site needs to have as many incoming
backlinks as possible.

90% of web sites have fewer than 10 links pointing to their site.

One of the single most important factors a search engine uses to rank
your web site is link popularity . Link popularity is based on the number of
incoming links you have from other web sites (such as through a link
exchange). Also known as backlinks, search engines view each of these
links to your site as "vote" for your site. The more incoming links your site
has, the more important the search engine will consider your site to be
and rank it accordingly. A good link exchange program is the proven way
to get these incoming links as quickly as possible. However, keep in mind
that search engines like link compatibility - links that make sense to being
coming to your site based on your site's content. For example, I wouldn't
put a link to a flower shop or a wine merchant on this site because they
have no relevancy to the content of this site.

There are two avenues you can pursue to generate links to your site:

Purchasing Links
Other Traffic Generators

The major aspect to keep in mind when you are selecting vendors in
either of these areas is to make sure that the links are NOT redirects.
Let's take a look at what's available to you in both areas.

1. Link Exchanges:

LinkMarket.com - "Link Market is a place where webmasters can find
other webmasters to exchange or trade links.   Link Market is free, easy
to use and very effective! One great element in their program is that you
do not have to link back to everybody that links to you. You have the
right to decide which web site you want to link to and which ones you
don't want. Link Market processes applications within 48 hours in most

searching for link exchange partners is 100% Free. All they require from
link exchange partners is the placement of a text link in their homepages

2. Buy Links
When buying links you want to make sure you purchase the highest PR
(PageRank) you can afford. In addition, make sure the site you are
purchasing a link from is a content site and not a commercial site.

you submit your keywords. They will then research their inventory and get
back to you with a selection of relevant links to choose from. They
indicate you can expect a response within 1-2 hours. They have an
extensive category list as well as PR 4- PR9 lists. (Site extablished

3. Purchasing Traffic:
When looking for ways to generate traffic to your site you will see a lot of
sites that say they'll send you X amount of traffic for a particular price.

This is a tricky area. You really need to do your homework with this type
of product.   I've looked at so many sites that sell traffic they say is
"trageted" traffic when in actuality it isn't. My comfort level is not high with
this type of traffic generation - it can be very hit-or-miss in nature. Some
sites don't deliver real visitors, others do not deliver the amount you
contract for ...just too many problems and uncertainties

There is one site I'm more confident in than others:

Intelligent Web Marketing (i-web-marketing.com) - As they say in
their intro ..."our advertising delivery system presents your site in a full
size, fully functional application window. In addition, our advertising is
delivered only when users are visiting sites similar in content to your own,
meaning visitors we deliver to your site have an interest in the type of
product or service you offer. " They indicate they opened their doors in

3. Other Traffic Generators
