Common sense tells you that you must get traffic to your website to generate sales.
The old saying "If you build it, they will come" doesn't work in the world of the internet.
There are just too many options out there for your customers to select from.

To get your customers to your site you have a variety of options, all of which I
recommend you use in some fashion. You have outbound email (no spaming please),
inbound links, ezines, promotion/advertising ppc on search engines to name just a few
options.

Traffic Surfing Sites (Click Through Exchanges)
I have a mixed opinion on this form of website promotion but it is a tool that you should
have in your marketing mix. All of the sites below are free. Many have upgrade
programs and affiliate programs that can generate you additional income or "hits". I've
included 9 for your review. I've used all of them and the list is not in any particular
preference order. This is by no means a comprehensive review of each site, just a
brief overview to get a feel for the comparative features.

If you have a multi-page site such as this one, even with the limited URLs available
from many surfing sites you can still do a pretty decent job of getting various pages
promoted. It is somewhat labor intensive as you rotate particualr pages through the
available URLs on a weekly basis. This does two things, first it allows you to promote
various specific products, second it allows to determine which product gets the best
response, ie. multiple page views or purchases. If you have a particularly strong
product, then you can focus on that particular sales page in your site.

Banner Exchanges

As with any other product on the web, there are a great number of banner exchange
programs available. Quite frankly I've not used banners ads. Reason, I'm
concentrating on other marketing avenues. That's not to say banner advertising would
not be right for you. I did find a useful article you might find of value.

Banner Exchanges Unmasked

This is a great information site. A lot of informative articles.

Banners MLM - This free program has an exchange ratio of 1:1. Plus they'll also give
back 50% of all the impressions generated by your "downline" - that's 10% of each of 5
levels FOREVER!!! That's a whopping 390,500 monthly impressions! (Established
February, 2000, Alexa ranking 29,614 PR5) NOTE: Alexa reviews for this site are not
that great. You make the determination.

Other FREE Traffic Generating Options

241 Leads - 241Leads.com will not only double your lead generation but also provide
on-the-spot, factual, marketing feedback along with a rack of new tools to promote your
existing websites.

They have filled this site with features that'll help grow any business; in fact they've
used many of them to grow our own! If you elect to join the Pro Version, they tools and
services they offer are extensive over 10 that i've not found on any other site such as
this. To upgrade to Pro is only $24.95 per month. An awesome package considering
what you get.

Instant Biz - Instant Biz is a "surfing" site in a way - that's the reason I've broken it out
from those above. It is probably the least intrusive free traffic generator I've found. It
is simply a tool bar that sits at the top of your computer screen and anytime you move
from site to site in your normal activities on the Internet, it displays another copy-only
ad in the bar. Quite frankly, I have a friend that does all my "surfing" of the above
listings for me. He comes back daily with interesting sites he's found and we go from
there. With this product, which is a download to your system, I find that I keep my eye
on it as I go through the day. I've actually added two new products to this site because
of this program. In addition to the un-obtrusive "surfing", they have a very interesting
email advertising program "EMail Space Ads" and what they call "HyperSpace" Ads
(they must be SciFi afficiandos).

They have an upgrade version which is not cheap - $149! But, the additional features
you get are well worth the expenditure.

My one problem with the site - VERY difficult to navigate through. They really need
better navigation bar buttons on the membership site.
